Testimonials - Neck and Lower Back Pain
Live a Pain-Free Life
Dear Kowalik Family Chiropractic:
I have suffered with chronic neck and lower back pain for as long as I can remember. After years as a graduate student and working professional, the pain reached a point where I could not sit in a chair for more than 30 minutes at a time without having to stand and stretch my back. In fact, the simple act of standing from a sitting position became excruciating. The pain and discomfort I felt in my neck and lower back began as something I tolerated and transformed into something that was borderline unbearable.
I met Dr. and Mrs. Kowalik through my husband and meeting them has changed my life. I was very skeptical before my first appointment with Dr. Kowalik (as I have seen many chiropractors and massage therapists over the years for my back pain with no success) but upon meeting Dr. Kowalik, that skepticism disappeared. He took so much time to learn about my pain, examine my symptoms and discuss his analysis and proposed treatment with me in great detail before ever attempting to adjust me. Dr. Kowalik takes time for each of his patients to answer every question and listen to every concern they may have. He never rushes you out the door to get to his next patient. Each patient is a priority to Dr. Kowalik and this is hugely refreshing.
After a few visits I began to feel better. I had less pain, more energy, better flexibility, and most importantly, the belief that I could be able to live a pain-free life. The kindness and professionalism of all of the members of the Kowalik Family Chiropractic is unmatched. Never have I experienced more people who care so much about the health and welfare of their patients and who are so happy to see every single patient when they walk in the door. They create an inviting and caring environment in which you can relax and focus on your treatment. Kowalik Family Chiropractic has helped me walk a path to recovery and a pain-free life, and for that I will be grateful forever. Thank you!
Very loyally yours,

20 Year of Pain - Gone!
March 17, 2008
Dear Dr. Daryl and Staff:
I met Dr. Daryl in March of 2007, while at the Laguna Hills Mall one day, I turned and there was Dr. Daryl. I was in no mood to talk to another Doctor about my back pain, what was he going to be able to do for me that a handful of Doctors in the past 20 years have been unable to resolve. I told Daryl that I was not going to tell him where my pain was.
Needless to say, he located it! I scheduled my first appointment and have been hooked since!
I have had back pain that has sent me to the emergency room on at least two occasions, where I was pumped with so many drugs the nurse was surprised I was still awake! I have dealt with back pain since my early twenties. I have undergone 6 epidural injections and a sacroiliac joint injection. Even with this treatment I was unable to enjoy life, I still had limited motion and pain.
At the time I first saw Daryl I thought I only had low back pain, Not! My upper back was almost fused at the time I first saw Daryl it took 6 months of adjustments for me to know what “normal” movement was in my upper back. I was lacking 10” from my fingertips to the ground and by the second visit I was able to touch my toes and have continued to be able too do this today!
Dr. Daryl has improved the quality of my life and my spine more over this last year, than any Doctor has done for me over the past 20 years!
The most significant change has been my ability to have full range of motion in my neck, upper back, and lower back. I no longer have low back pain! And I am able to do any type of activity I wish to do.
The quality of the care I have received from Daryl and his staff is an A+. I highly recommend everyone get evaluated by Dr. Daryl or another Chiropractor, it is NEVER to late to begin your healing process, many people are unaware of just how damaged their bodies have become.
I could go on and on, I just want anyone who reads this document to know how truly wonderful Dr. Daryl , his wife and staff are, and just how dedicated they are to restoring your quality of life so that you can live the life you love and have endless possibilities!
Purposefully yours,
Traysee Morse

Dear Dr. Kowalik,
I am 76 years old and I have never been to a chiropractor. I used to ride a bicycle every day and have traveled the world with a backpack. Then I felt old age catching up and my health deteriorating. It was hard to walk properly and stand upright. I even had to take pain pills to sleep at night. The Veterans Administration doctors said I was in the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. I had given up hope of keeping my health and was waiting for the end.
My son took me to you and everything has changed. After 2 weeks of treatments I could sleep the entire night without pain and without pain pills. One month after seeing you I was able to walk 2 miles, something I haven't done for several years. I've also seen other doctors who now say I don’t have Parkinson's disease and I'm off all prescription medicine.
Thanks to you, I now believe I have more than a few good years left in me.

An untreated whiplash neck injury at eighteen, deteriorated into chronic neck and hack pain by the time I had reached forty. After years of treatment with other chiropractors. I heard about Dr. Kowalik. In less than a month he stabilized my condition. I was doing better and feeling better than I had in years. Until I had a setback injury.
Everything changed instantly when I was hit in the back of the neck by a heavy board. Within seconds. I felt the same pain I had before joining Dr. Kowalik. It was only then that I remembered how much pain had once ruled my life.
Not calling for an appointment immediately after being re-injured was a mistake. I waited three days. When it was clear I wasn't getting better, in fact, worse, I finally asked for an unscheduled appointments with Dr. Kowalik.
Less than two weeks later. I'm almost back to the level I had reached before my setback. Thanks again.

Dear Daryl,
I can't believe that eight months ago, I came into your office hunched over and in so much pain that I could barely lift my hands above my shoulders. The spasms in my neck and shoulders were so bad that I couldn't sit still, let alone work at my job in the construction industry. But more than that, I was no longer able to run, my favorite form of relaxation.
Through your careful manipulations, I have been able to return to work at my full capacity. What impressed me the most about you was your desire to help me. When we weren't making enough progress, you consulted other doctors and we would try new things.
On July 4th, when I crossed the finish line at the Lake Forest 5K Run, it seemed only right to have you and your wife sitting at the finish line at your Chiropractic Booth. I thank you for the compassion you have shown and the friendship that has grown through our association.

I am new to the Orange County area. I moved here in April 2005 to marry the love of my life, Julie. As many young men do, I felt compelled to upgrade various fixtures in our condo. This would prove my ability to care for a home and give us special accoutrements.... new faucet handles, lights, shelving etc. One of my forays into the world of home improvement led me to the dungeon under the kitchen sink. There is not much room under the sink for my frame. I, however, managed to contort my neck and body into a shape that allowed me to reach the appropriate bolts and screws and handles. Once under the sink, I realized that the securing device for the old faucet was rusted in place and some drilling was required. I had just the tools. After a few attempts with the drill, I finally succeeded in freeing the old faucet unit. Julie lifted the old faucet from above and the light shown through the holes like sunshine through the clouds. I was confident I could replace the new unit once I extricated myself from the dungeon under the sink.
The problem arose as soon as I got out. My neck was stuck to one side and the searing pain in my left shoulder bespoke of a serious issue. I was in pain and the condition continued to escalate. I lay on the bed and had Julie slowly pull on my head to attempt some form of traction release. It didn't work. I then rolled face down on the floor and had Julie step on the upper middle of my back. These were my first feeble and WRONG attempts to fix myself. I then begged her to look for a nearby chiropractor that might be open on a Saturday. I had recalled seeing a clinic in a nearby center. She got their emergency pager number and called it at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon. With-in 15 minutes Dr. Kowalik returned her call. He was willing to leave his home on a Saturday afternoon to see me, an unknown person. By 3:30 he had taken X-rays and offered assistance. Adjustments are not usually done on the first day of consult; however, he could see my dire situation. Adjustments were done and thus began my treatment at a wonderful family care center.
I was apprehensive walking into the clinic the following Monday, knowing that on Saturday, I had taken family time from his wife Mahtty. She was at the front desk and Mahtty re-assured me that their family commitment is to their patient's care and that I had been in severe pain. They had named the business appropriately ... Kowalik Family Chiropractic.
I have since developed a great bond with the Kowaliks. They have such a sincere and caring demeanor about them. I feel safe and secure in the hands of Dr. Kowalik and with Mahtty's positive commitment to their client's lives, I look forward to each appointment.

p.s. My pain was gone quickly and I have since continued with regular spine maintenance.
p.p.s.- Julie finished installing the new kitchen faucet with my verbal support.
Dear Fellow Patients:
The initial injury to my back occurred in 1960 (a lot of you probably can't even remember back that far) when I was lifting my daughter out of her high chair. I was given a very large injection of novocaine and had no further problems until 1976 when my back spasmed and I was put in traction for a week and then two more weeks of bed rest. The problem recurred in 1978 and I spent another week in bed taking very strong pain medication. My problem was diagnosed as two herniated disks.
I had always been very active - golfing, bowling, etc. and I was forced to put my bowling on hold for ten full years. After that time, I made up my mind I was going to bowl and even though the pain was extreme when I first started back, I persisted and was able to bowl again, even though the morning following each bowling outing my back was so stiff and sore it took me many minutes before I could walk normally.
During the intervening years, I self-medicated with over-the-counter pain medications, used the heating pad for relief of stiffness and soreness and went to an M.D. when the pain was more than I could manage. Then, just last year after meeting Dr. Kowalik, I decided it was time to try Chiropractic. I had heard him referred to as "Dr. Gentle" and since I am basically a "coward", I knew he was the doctor for me. My neck had gotten so bad I could barely turn it to the right and my upper back and shoulders were always hurting from sitting at my desk eight hours a day. I had worked in the Chiropractic field on and off for 20 years but had never really been thoroughly examined or been given a professional plan of treatment.
I have just completed my prescribed adjustments and there is no comparison between the way I feel now and how I felt at the beginning of my treatment. I'm a "new woman." Dr. Kowalik now has me on a maintenance plan to keep this "old bod" feeling good and able to keep up with my very busy schedule of working full time, bowling, golfing, and acting as an officer on both my Homeowners Association Board and Social Club Board. And, I have just gotten my license from the State of California to sell mobile/modular homes.
Thank you, Dr. Kowalik, for helping me to feel better than I have in years and making it possible for me to pursue all the things I so enjoy doing. You, Mahtty and Donna are the best! I love you all.
Sincerely,
Jacquie Riggs
