How Does One Become Subluxated?
Subluxations are most commonly caused by gross traumas and micro traumas. Gross traumas are major injuries usually caused by auto accidents, sports injuries, falls, etc. In these types of injuries the soft tissue damage can take several months to over a year to heal. Many times the segments of the spine, or other joints, for that matter, will heal with scar tissue causing the bones to be stuck out of alignment. Micro traumas are caused by our daily activities such as poor posture and biomechanics when sitting, sleeping, and working, etc. In these instances, small tears to the soft tissues are created and, little by little, heal with scar tissue causing the bones to be stuck out of alignment.
Other stressors such as mental, emotional, and chemical can cause or aggravate subluxations as well. In fact, mental and emotional stress is the most common re-aggrivator of subluxations.
